Peanut butter burger? Stay with me. Give PBBs a chance. There is plenty of heat to complement the sweetness.

When I was pregnant with Sully, I frequented a place in Indy called Scotty’s Brewhouse solely because of their peanut butter burger. We don’t have Scotty’s down here in Jax so I’ve had to make my own which is fine by me because I think homemade always tastes better.

First, I mixed a 1/2 tablespoon of seasoned salt and a tablespoon of worcestershire sauce into 2 pounds of hamburger and made 6 patties. I sprinkled each patty with seasoned salt and pepper on each side. Then I handed them off to Rudy to cook on the Big Green Egg.

I fried up some bacon and set it aside, then used the grease to saute some jalapeño slices. I also diced some red onion and sliced a few grape tomatoes.

I bought some hamburger buns from the bakery at the local grocery because they are fresh and just the best to homemade you can get. I sliced them with my bread knife, buttered them, and then toasted them in a cast iron skillet on medium heat. While the bun was still warm, I assembled my burger, spreading the peanut butter on the top 1/2 of the bun so it would get nice and melty.

I used pepper jack cheese on my burger because I like the added kick. Then I topped it with bacon, onion, tomatoes, and jalapeños. Oh, my. It is oh-so good. If you still have doubts, just try it!

Peanut butter burgers. They’re not just for pregnant women. I promise!

Peanut Butter Burger

Peanut Butter Burger

  • 2 pounds hamburger 80/20
  • 1/2 tablespoon seasoned salt
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • fresh ground pepper to taste
  • 6 slices pepper jack cheese
  • 1 pound bacon fried crisp, grease reserved
  • 2 jalapeños sliced and sauteed in bacon grease
  • 6 hamburger buns
  • peanut butter
  • 4 grape tomatoes sliced
  • 1 small red onion diced

  1. Mix the seasoned salt and worcestershire sauce into the hamburger with your hands and make 6 patties. Sprinkle both sides of each patty with seasoned salt and pepper.

  2. Grill the burgers to perfection! You can also cook them in a cast iron skillet on the stove. Melt a piece of pepper jack cheese on each patty.

  3. Fry the bacon and set aside, then saute the jalapeño slices in the bacon grease.

  4. Butter both halves of the buns and get them all toasty brown in a cast iron skillet on medium heat.

  5. While the top bun is still warm, spread peanut butter on it so it gets nice and melty.

  6. Assemble the rest of your burger by topping with the bacon, onion, tomatoes, and jalapeños.
