Confession Time: I never ate Cranberry Sauce growing up. I remember the first time I saw it at a holiday dinner. It was sitting there all gelatinous in a serving dish, still shaped like the can. Total palate turn-off. I’m sure that’s why I never tried it.
While getting our menu for our first holiday meal together Rudy asked why Cranberry Sauce wasn’t on the menu. I was like, “You like that stuff?” He and my stepsons just looked at each other like, “Is she for real?” So I tried it. It was okay. It was nice to have something sweet to offset all the savory flavors. I just wasn’t too sure about the GLOOP sound it made sliding out of the can and into its presentation. So this year I decided to make my own homemade. I feel better knowing where it came from. And you know what? It’s super-delicious! And you know what else? It is soooooo easy to make. Takes like no time at all and has only 5 ingredients.
This Cranberry Sauce recipe is for those who love it and also for those like me, who (used to) think it’s just okay. Either way, you’re gonna be wowed by this! Give it a try!
p.s. This goes great with my Mushroom Stuffing!

- 12 oz cranberries
- 1 tsp orange zest
Add the water, orange juice, and sugar to a sauce pan and bring to a boil.
